Big Red places first at Relays
The Denison women's swimming & diving team combined for a first-place finish at the Kenyon Swimming Relays and the Denison Diving Relays on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red posted four event wins to finish with 114 points which bested second-place Kenyon by two points.
In the swimming relays which took place in Gambier, Ohio, DU got things going with a win in the 500 yard crescendo relay in 4:36.09. The team of Ashley Yearwood, Carolyn Kane, Molly Willingham and Campbell Costley combined for the win.
In the 200 butterfly relay it was Carolyn Kane, Michelle Howell, Liz Kane and Yearwood who combined for a time of 1:45.12, taking first. Denison also posted winning performances in the 400 individual medley relay (4:03.82) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.93).
In the 400 IM relay, the winning foursome was comprised of Carolyn Kane, Natalie Lugg, Libby Dalziel, and Costley. The victors in the 200 free relay were Carolyn Kane, Yearwood, Liz Kane, and Morgan Nuess.
On the day, Carolyn Kane led Denison with four first-place finishes.
In the diving competition from the Trumbull Aquatics Center, DU finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 390.70. Morgan Christman led the way with a six-dive score of 201.05 while teammate Sarah Lopez followed with a score of 189.65.
In the 3-meter board, DU finished third as Carrie Bookheimer and Morgan Christman combined for a score of 328.65,
Denison will return to the pool on Saturday (Oct. 26) when they host Malone University at the Trumbull Aquatics Center at 1 p.m.
