Molly Willingham's two wins helped propel DU past the Tigers on Friday.

The Denison women's swimming & diving team opened the New Year with a convincing 157-115 victory over Wittenberg on Friday from the Trumbull Aquatics Center in Granville, Ohio.

Sophomore Michelle Howell and first-year Ashley Yearwood paced the DU with three wins apiece.  The duo opened the meet by representing one half of DU's winning 200 medley relay team.  Senior Lindsay Zeberlein, Howell, Yearwood and rookie Mary Van Leuven combined for a time of 1:48.94 in the event.  Howell also posted a pair of individual victories in the 100 butterfly (59.01) and 200 IM (2:11.12) races.

Yearwood won the 50 freestyle after clocking in at 24.34.  She also teamed up with Zeberlein, Kate Wright and Molly Willingham to win the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.48.

Also winning multiple events were Willingham and first-year Taylor Johns.  In addition to her 400 free relay win, Willingham was also victorious in the 200 freestyle.  The sophomore touched the wall at 1:55.91.  Johns picked up individual wins in the 1650 and 500 freestyle events.  The rookie posted a time of 17:43.55 in the mile and 5:12.06 in the 500.

Rounding out the DU winners were senior Sarah Yu, junior Natalie Lugg and first-year diver Kelly Frazier.  Yu and Lugg earned victories in the 50 back (27.84) and breast (31.19), respectively, while Frazier's score of 235.73 won the 1-meter diving event.

The Big Red (3-2, 2-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) returns to the pool on Saturday (Jan. 12) when they host Division I Ohio University at 1 p.m.
