GRANVILLE, Ohio – Freshman Kelly O'Neill opened the scoring in the 26th minute and Claire Kolff added an insurance goal in the second half as Denison women's soccer shut out DePauw University 2-0 at Barclay-Thomsen Field on Saturday afternoon.

Outshooting the Tigers 13-3 for the match, the Big Red answered first in the 26th minute when junior Sam Haseltine touched it back to O'Neill who capitalized for her third goal of the season. Denison took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

To begin the second half, DU totaled four straight shots before DePauw could attempt their first shot of the match. Then in the 67th minute, Kolff took advantage of a bouncing ball inside the opposition's goal box to bury her first goal of the season and give the Big Red a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers attempted their last two shots in the final minutes of play, but Denison's goalkeeper Jenny Herold made back-to-back saves to secure the shutout and give DU their fifth win of the season.

Totaling her sixth shutout performance of the year, Herold made two saves for the Big Red in 90 minutes of play. DePauw's Mia Manney added five saves for the Tigers in a full match effort.

Denison will hit the road next Tuesday, Oct. 10 as they travel to Oberlin, Ohio to take on Oberlin College at 7:30 p.m.
