Karl named NCAC Player of the Week

Denison sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Karl was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after helping the Big Red go unbeaten against two nationally-ranked opponents last week.

Karl totaled 17 saves on the week to help lead Denison to a 0-0 draw against 25th-ranked Ohio Northern and a 1-0 victory over eighth-ranked Centre.  The sophomore keeper tied her career-high with seven saves against the Polar Bears and then set a new career mark with 10 stops against the Colonels.

On the season, Karl has posted an NCAC-leading six shutouts, while her 0.53 goals against average and .891 save percentage rank second in the league.

Denison returns to the pitch on Wednesday when they take on Carnegie Mellon University in a key regional matchup.  Match time from Pittsburgh, Pa. is scheduled for 7 p.m.
