GRANVILLE, Ohio--  The Denison women's golf team placed fifth out of 13 teams at the 2017 Lynn Schweizer Invitational at the Denison Golf Club.  The Big Red posted a 36-hole team total of 678 placing them 24 strokes behind fourth place, St. Francis (Ind.).

The two-day tournament was preempted on Saturday due to rain.  Despite the poor conditions, the entire field did get through at least nine holes of their opening round.  On Sunday, tee times were moved up to 8 a.m. and the 36-hole tournament was completed.

Denison was led by sophomore Emmy Timberlake who shot rounds of 80 and 82.  In her opening round, Timberlake birdied No. 1 and No. 7 helping her to a 41 on the front nine.   On the back, she carded six pars to shoot 39.  In round two, Timberlake went out in 40 and in with 42 for her 82.  She recorded 10 pars in the second round.

Lauren Danielson followed with a 168 after rounds of 82 and 86.  In her opening round, Danielson birdied the par-3 fourth hole.  She posted a 42 on the front and a 40 on the back.  In round two, Danielson went three strokes lower on the front nine thanks to birdies on No. 1 and No. 7.  Even with a triple bogey on the par-5 sixth, Danielson still managed a 39.  On the back nine of round two, she posted a 47 for an 18-hole score of 86.

Senior Sophie Kollin checked in third for Denison and 21st overall after rounds of 86 and 84. She had one birdie in her opening round. That came on the par-4, 426-yard No. 15.  Kollin added a birdie in her second round. This one came on the par-5, 10th hole.  Her 84 in round two came after a 43 on the front and a 41 on the back.

DU's starting five was rounded out by Nicole Wetoska and Moe Madar.  Wetoska posted rounds of 90 and 88 to finish in a tie for 40th out of a field of 83 golfers.  Madar opened with a 95 and finished with a 98 to place 61st

Five individuals also competed for the Big Red.  In her first career tournament, Megan Wong shot 86 and 80 to finish in a tie for 15th.  Wong's second round featured 10 pars en route to her 80.  Rounding out DU's individuals were Olivia Cowley (97, 97), Delaney McRitchie (105, 98), Ellie Broker (108, 98) and Julia Giordano (101, 109).

Denison will return to action on Sept. 16-17 at the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shoot Out.
