Big Red in striking distance at Wooster

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio--  After the opening round of the Wooster Spring Invitational, Denison sits in third place, only six shots off the lead.  The Big Red was led on Saturday by Sophie Kollin who carded a six-over par, 78.  She sits in third-place overall in the field of 38 golfers.  Her 78 was one stroke off her season-best round and three strokes shy of her career-low.

In with a 79 was senior Anne MillerTina Berardi and Emmy Timberlake rounded out DU's top-4 with matching 84s.  Nicole Wetoska posted an 86 while playing as DU's fifth golfer.

Individuals for Denison included Alexandra Mills (85), Sammy Seibel (89) and Moe Madar (99).

Wooster sits atop the leaderboard with a 319.  Carnegie Mellon is second at 324 followed by the Big Red at 325.  Allegheny is fourth (346), Ohio Wesleyan is fifth (351) and Urban is sixth (419).

The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the final round at Mohican Hills Golf Club.
