The Denison women's golf team fired a 346 in the final round of the Allegheny Invitational en route to a sixth-place finish on Monday in Meadville, Pa. The Big Red completed the two-day event with 702 strokes, just two shots behind fifth place Western University.
Freshman Annie Miller paced DU with a team-low 82 on the final day of competition. Miller finished in 16th-place overall with a 170. Sophomore Brynn FitzGerald was tied for 18th after carding a 174 (89-85) over the course of two days. Rounding out the scoring were junior Stacey Adams and freshman Tina Berardi. Adams and Berardi both finished in a tied for 22nd with matching 179s.
The University of Toronoto's Laura Upenieks won medalist honors with an eight-over par 154, while Allegheny's Miranda Santucci took second with a 161.
Toronto won the team title with 653 strokes, while Division II Seton Hill was second with 661 shots. Allegheny (672), Mercyhurst (682) and Western University rounded out the top five in the team standings.
Denison closes out the fall season on Oct. 12-13 at the Pat Clouse Invitational hosted by Wittenberg University at the Springfield Country Club.
