HIRAM, Ohio – Hiram's Tashauna Wright provided 10 second-half points off the bench to help the Terriers defeat the Big Red, 59-46, on Wednesday night at Price Gymnasium.

Despite holding Hiram to 33-percent from the field in the first half, Denison was outscored 33-20 in the final 20 minutes of play led by the Terriers shooting 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Tied at 26-26 coming out of the half, a quick four points from sophomore Lauren Longbrake put Denison up 30-26 with 8:37 to play in the third. Multiple Big Red turnovers helped fuel an 11-1 scoring run for the Terriers over the next 4:10 of play, giving Hiram a 37-31 advantage at the 4:27 mark.

DU answered right back with a pair of free throws from freshman Zyah Beal and a layup from Lauren Hofer to only trail HC 37-35 with 1:28 to play in the third period. A turnover by Denison's Alison Schafer resulted in a layup from Allison Vannoy before Wright connected on both of her free throws to end the quarter and give Hiram a 41-35 lead heading into the fourth.

Entering the final quarter, the Terriers extended their lead to nine, 47-38, after Erica Johnson made one of her three second-half buckets with 7:52 remaining in the game. Following a Lucy Bancone three-pointer, Sydney MacBlane buried one of her two free throws to make it a six-point Hiram lead, 50-44, with less than six minutes to play.

The final 5:40 belonged to the Terriers as they outscored the Big Red 9-2 behind four of Johnson's 10 points for the game to push Denison to 3-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Hiram's Wright led the game with 15 points and added three steals, while Johnson and Vannoy each totaled 10 points. Johnson also contributed 14 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.

Hofer led the Big Red with 11 points and chipped in five rebounds. Schafer tallied 8 points for the game while Longbrake led the team with nine boards.

Denison will return to Granville on Saturday, Jan. 20 when Oberlin College comes to Livingston Gymnasium for a 1 p.m. tipoff.
