GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Jordan Holmes was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III All-American team. This is the second-straight year that Holmes has received this honor from the WBCA. She is one of 30 players in the nation to earn honorable mention from the organization. Additionally, Holmes was named to the D-III News All-American third-team.
Holmes was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2016-17. She averaged 12.8 points per game, 15.3 rebounds per game and 5.7 blocks per game. This season, she became the Division III career leader in rebounds (1,711) and blocked shots (642). She also leaves Denison as the Division III career leader in triple-doubles (six). Holmes is the only player in Division III history to score 1,000 points, grab 1,500 rebounds and block 500 shots. A four-time first-team All-NCAC pick, Holmes ranks fourth in women's college basketball history (all divisions) in total rebounds and is third in blocks. Last week, she appeared in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section.
Holmes helped Denison post a record of 73-38 (.658) in her four years with the Big Red. In 2015-16, Denison qualified for the NCAA Tournament after going 23-5 and winning the NCAC Championship.
She leaves DU as the program's only two-time All-American. She joins Shaina Kaiser (2011), Kristen Sheffield (2007), Allison McCombe (1995) and Christi Clay (1994) on Denison's list of WBCA All-Americans.
