Denison junior post Jordan Holmes was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and eighth time in her career after helping the Big Red extend its current winning streak to eight games with road wins at Hiram and Ohio Wesleyan.
Holmes enjoyed the best two-game shooting stretch in her career as she went a combined 18-for-21 in DU's two victories last week. The 6-foot-1 post scored 22 points in each contest while averaging 16 rebounds and 6.5 blocks per contest.
Against the Batting Bishops, Holmes set a new Denison single-game record for field-goal percentage by going a perfect 10-for-10 from the field. She has posted double-digit rebounds in all 18 games this season and is shooting .704 from the floor, which ranks third in the nation.
In addition to her impressive field-goal percentage, Holmes also leads the country blocks (6.44) and defensive rebounds per game (13). She is also tied for first with 15 double-doubles this season and second in total rebounds per game (17.3) and triple-doubles (2). Holmes is fourth on the Division III career blocks list and 17th across all divisions with 425 blocks. Her 1,096 rebounds ranks her third on the NCAC career list, 122 boards shy of breaking the conference mark.
Denison (15-3, 8-1 NCAC) will look to extend their eight-game winning streak on Wednesday when they host DePauw University at Livingston Gymnasium. Tip-off from Granville is slated for 8 p.m.
