CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Thanks to top-50 finishes from Benjamin Foster and Jack Marchetti, Denison men's cross country secured an 11th place finish among Division III opponents at the 63rd annual All-Ohio Championship at Cedarville University on Friday afternoon.
In a race that totaled 38 teams from all three divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and junior college, the Big Red ended the day in 26th place overall. Foster led the way for DU as his time of 26:36.7 finished 25th among Division III schools and 92nd overall of the 323 total runners. Marchetti finished just 18 competitors later in 43rd place with a time of 27:02, while sophomore Clayton Watters posted a time of 27:52.3, good for 69th place.
Jeremy Bloomfield, Patrick Manglano and Henri Hegemier completed the Denison lineup as Bloomfield clocked in at 29:45.4, while Manglano finished just seconds behind at 30:06.9. Hegemier rounded out the Big Red runners with a time of 33:55.6.
Ohio Northern landed the Division III trophy with 56 points, while Case Western Reserve (74), Otterbein (84), Mount Union (94) and John Carroll (101) rounded out the top five. James Ngandu from Tiffin University finished first overall with a time of 24:14.9.
Denison will return to Granville next Thursday, October 5 as they host a dual meet with the College of Wooster.
