The Denison men's cross country team compiled 98 points en route to a third-place finish at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Rochester University on Saturday.
Denison was led by freshman Jake Dennie who finished seventh in the 163-person field on Saturday. Dennie crossed the finish line in 26:27.3, six-hundredths of a second behind sixth-place Jeremy Hassett of Rochester.
Sophomore Sam Beech finished 12th overall after posting a time of 26:38.0, while freshman Drake Lohnes posted a time of 27:04.4 which landed him in 24th place. Rounding out the scoring were sophomore Ryan Keller and senior John Williamson. Keller took 29th with a time of 27:16.9, while Williamson had the 32nd fastest time of the race (27:19.5).
The host Yellow Jackets took home the team title with 20 points, while Ithaca finished runner up with 58 tallies. Denison, Niagara (121) and RIT (134) rounded out the top five spots in the 14-team field.
The Big Red returns to competition next Saturday at the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville, Ohio.
