Denison senior Chad Kosanovich led all Division III runners at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Gettysburg, Pa.
Kosanovich finished fourth in the overall standings and second among collegiate runners. The Pennsylvania native finished the race in 25:54 en route to his top-5 finish. Matt Gillette of Division II Shippensburg won the event with a time of 25:21, while two unattached runners occupied second and third, respectively.
Also helping the DU cause were senior Jacob Ott and freshman Mitch Keller. Ott took 46th after finishing the 8K race in 26:57, while Keller finished two seconds behind in 48th place. Rounding out the scoring were Steven Johnson and John Williamson. Johnson crossed in 27:13, while Williamson posted a time of 27:18.
The Big Red finished fifth out of 38 in the team standing, and second out of Division III teams behind Salisbury. Lock Haven won the team title with 50 points, while DU compiled 190 points.
Denison resumes competition on Oct. 27 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meet hosted by the College of Wooster.
