GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Big Red men's track & field team compiled 52 points en route to a sixth-place finish at the 2017 North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship held on the campus of DePauw University.

Field events provided much of the scoring on Saturday, accounting for 74 percent of the points on the final day of the meet. Sophomore All-American David Carter led the charge with his second-straight triple jump title and first in the outdoor season. Carter captured his first NCAC title at the indoor championship meet. The sophomore won the event with a combined leap of 48-feet even. Isaac Reed followed in second place with a personal-best mark of 43'8.50". That performance moved Reed into 10th place on the program's top performers list. Freshman James Dixie also scored in the triple jump, finishing fifth at 42'11". The trio combined for 22 points in the event.

The javelin was also a fruitful event for Denison as all four competitors finished in the top-8. Freshman Ivan Maldonado led the quartet with a fourth-place finish with a heave of 170'4", while senior Drake Lohnes was fifth with a personal record toss of 167'8". Lohnes' mark was a 9'1" improvement on his previous PR. Dixie (150'9") and Church Humphreys (149'10") rounded out the scoring for the Big Red placing seventh and eighth, respectively.

Junior Zach Munn and sophomore Niall Clancey each provided points in the 800-meter run. Munn was fifth overall after crossing the line in 1:57.42, while Clancey's time of 1:59.45 landed him in eighth place. Clancey also placed eighth in the 1500-meter event with a time of 4:11.12.

Munn was also part of the 4x400 relay team that finished fifth. Isaac Andrews, Munn, Zach Cove and Jack Ruddy combined for a time of 3:28.62. Andrews and Ruddy also teamed up with Michael Bonebrake and Alex Chin in the 4x100 relay. The grouping placed seventh in 45.24.

Wabash won the team title with 196 points, 19 tallies ahead of second-place Ohio Wesleyan (177). Wittenberg was third with 117 points followed by Allegheny (103) and DePauw (73) in fourth and fifth, respectively. Denison (52), Oberlin (39), Wooster (32) and Kenyon (23) rounded out the team standings.
