GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Big Red men's track and field team accumulated 84 points en route to a fifth-place finish at the Kenyon Spring Invitational on Saturday.

Freshman James Dixie and sophomore Isaac Reed led the way with three top-5 performances apiece. Dixie's outing was highlighted by a victory in the triple jump after posting a combined leap of 42'4.25". He also finished third in the javelin (143'11"). Reed posted third place finishes in both the triple jump (39'8.50") and 110 hurdles. The sophomore's time of 15.76 in the hurdles bested his previous personal record by 13 hundredths of a second and moved him into ninth on the program's top performers list.

The duo of Dixie and Reed also teamed up with Jack Ruddy and Isaac Andrews to place third in the 4x100 relay. The foursome finished with a time of 44.95. In addition to helping the 4x100 relay team, Ruddy also was a member of the 4x400 grouping. He along with Michael Bonebrake, Zach Munn and Zach Cove placed sixth with a time of 3:33.66. In the 400-meter dash, Bonebrake and Ruddy took seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 52.32 and 52.41.

Andrews turned in a third-place showing in the 200-meter event after crossing the line in 22.93, while Munn was third in the 800 at 2:02.29. Senior Patrick Dunn finished third in the 1500-meter run with a final time of 4:14.81. Ben Foster followed in eighth with a time of 4:24.49. Bryce Stricker had two top-3 performances, taking second in the shot put (43'10.50") and third in the hammer throw (145'2"). Austin McManus also turned in a PR mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 99'1". With that mark, McManus moved into sixth place on the top performers list. Alex Chin and Church Humphreys rounded out the scoring for DU. Chin was fourth in the long jump (19'4.25") and sixth in the 100 (11.76), while Humphreys was sixth in the javelin with a heave of 123'11".

Wooster won the team title with 146.5 points, while Wittenberg came in second with 138. Oberlin was third at 115.5 followed by the host Lords (100) and Denison. Mount Vernon Nazarene (80) and Allegheny (27) rounded out the team scoring.

In addition to competition at Kenyon, sophomore David Carter and freshman Ivan Maldonado competed at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State this weekend. Carter placed fourth in the triple jump with a combined leap of 47'6.25", while Maldonado's toss of 176'4" in the javelin landed him in 12th place.

The Big Red will be back in action next Friday (April 28) when they host the annual Denison Big Red Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
