Five compete at Gator Invitational

Denison sent five athletes to the 8th Annual Gator Invitational hosted by Allegheny College on Friday in Meadville, Pa.

Big Red Head Coach Mark FitzPatrick took four men and one woman to Allegheny.  Senior Chad Kosanovich improved his national standings in the 1500 following a fifth-place finish in the event.  Kosanovich entered the day ranked 33rd in nation after running a personal-best time of 3:54.06 at last weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship.  The senior improved on his PR time after completing the race in 3:52.33.  That time moved Kosanovich in the top 25 in the 1500-meter run.

Fellow senior Jacob Ott ran in the second wave of the 1500-meter event.  Ott took fifth in his race with a time of 4:15.26.  Also competing in Meadville were freshmen Wallace Branche and Mitch Keller.  Branche finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 46-04.00, while Keller posted a time of 2:01.31 in the 800.

Reigning NCAC Sprinter of the Year Tiffany Davis represented the DU women's team at the Gator Invite.  Davis won both the 100 and 200-meter events, outrunning athletes from Division II and III schools.  The junior finished the 100 in 12.41 and won the 200 with a time of 25.58.

The Big Red will take another small squad to the Ron Althoff Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Monday.  Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
