Senior Dee Salukombo won three North Coast Athletic Conference titles en route to being named the 2012 NCAC Distance Runner of the Year on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, Salukombo won the 10,000-meter run after crossing the line in 31:23.29. The senior continued his string of success by securing the fifth and sixth NCAC Outdoor Championship titles of his career. In the 1500, Salukombo finished ahead of three Wabash athletes with a time of 3:54.92. He completed his "triple crown" with a dominating victory in the 5,000-meter run. The senior finished the race in 15:08.47, almost three seconds faster than Allegheny's Bobby Over.
Senior Chris Roth also helped the Big Red cause with a pair of second-place finishes. After posting a personal-best in Friday 100 prelim, Roth (pictured left) matched his time 10.93 on Saturday en route to second-place finish. In the 200, the senior took second posted another career-best after crossing the line in 21.55, two hundredths of a second behind Wittenberg's Victor Banjo.
Junior Chad Kosanovich also posted a pair of top-6 finishes in the 5000 and 1500-meter events. Kosanovich finished fourth in the 5K after clocking in at 15:23.52. The junior also took sixth in the 1500-meter run after crossing the finish line in 3:59.01.
As a team, the Big Red finished sixth in the nine-team field after totaling 60 points. Wabash won the team title with 314.5 points, while Ohio Wesleyan (157.5) and Oberlin (71) took second and third, respectively.
