Results from All-Ohio Championship

Denison posted three top-5 finishes and scored in five events at the 2012 All-Ohio Championship.  The Big Red finished the day in a tie for 14th place with 23 points.

DU was paced by seniors Alexander Chappars and Dee Salukombo.  Chappars finished in fourth place with a time of 32:36.46.  Salukombo also posted a fourth-place finish after crossing the line in 1:57.04.  In addition to his performance at the All-Ohio, Salukombo also ran at the 27th Annual Jesse Owens Track Classic hosted by The Ohio State University on Friday evening.  The senior took 31st in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:57.71.

Denison also received strong performances from sprinters Chris Roth and Dimonde Hale in the 200 and 400-meter events, respectively.  Roth clocked in at 22.73 which landed him in fifth place, while Hale's time of 50.43 resulted in a seventh-place finish.

The Big Red rounded out its scoring with an eighth-place finish in the 4x100 relay.  The foursome of Roth, Joe Nichols, Win Fox and Hale combined for a time of 45.09.

In the field events, senior Wendell Taylor took 18th in the shot put with a toss of 38-11.00.  Nichols also finished in the top 20 in the triple jump.  The junior combined for a leap of 37.09.25.

Mount Union won the team title with 118.50 points, while host Ohio Wesleyan University took second with 99 tallies.  Baldwin-Wallace (73), Heidelberg (59.50) and Defiance (52.50) rounded out the top five squads.

Denison returns to competition on Saturday when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for the Kenyon Invitational.  Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
