Big Red finishes fourth at Greater Columbus

Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood), Alphonse Harris (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) and Russell Holden (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Western Reserve Academy) all notched victories as the Denison men's indoor track and field team took fourth at the Greater Columbus Invitational hosted by Capital University.

Salukombo took first in the one mile run with a time of 4:25.56, and Harris posted a time of  9:31.27 in the 3,000-meter run.  Holden recorded a time of 16:33.62 in the 5,000-meter run, while Joe Thackery (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) placed third in the 1,000-meter with a time of 2:45.66.

In the field events, Cal Keating (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame) took second in the triple jump with a distance of 42-02.00, while Steve Gallego (Lyndhurst, N.J./New Canaan) was runner up in the shot put with a toss of 40-04.75.

The Big Red returns to action next weekend when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for the Kenyon Invitational on Feb. 12.  DU will then take part in the Division III All-Ohio Championship hosted by Otterbein College on Feb. 13.
