Denison University sophomore Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) has qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship on March 12-13 from the DePauw University Track & Field Center in Greencastle, Ind.
Salukombo qualified for the championship meet in the men's one-mile race by placing second at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship this past Saturday. Salukombo posted a time of 4:12.23 which broke the Denison school record of 4:14.64 set by James Alexander in 1973.
He enters the meet with the nation's eighth-fastest time this season. Twelve runners will take part in the preliminary trials at 4 p.m. on Friday (March 12) with the top-10 from the trials advancing to the finals on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Salukombo, who earned All-American status by placing 33rd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships this fall, is the first DU athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship since Kim Murley in 2005.
