Denison sophomore Dee Salukombo (Lakewood, Ohio/Lakewood) placed seventh out of 10 runners in the finals of the men's mile from the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship. The seventh place finish lands Salukombo on the 2010 All-America squad. He is the first Denison male indoor track and field athlete to earn All-America status since Joe Dunham in 1999.
After Friday's trials which saw Salukombo post a time of 4:21.03, he came back in Saturday's final with a time of 4:13.88 which was only four seconds off the winning pace set by SUNY-Fredonia's Nick Guarino.
This is Salukombo's second All-America award of his young career. He placed 33rd out of 276 runners at the 2009 NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship this past November.
