Jackson O'Gorman-Bean posted two key wins against Oberlin on Friday.
Jackson O'Gorman-Bean posted two key wins against Oberlin on Friday.

Third-seeded Denison punched its ticket to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals with a 5-0 victory over the No. 6 seed Oberlin on Friday in Oberlin, Ohio.

In a match that was played to a decision, DU grabbed a commanding 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles competition.  The No. 1 doubles team of Grant Veltman and Shankar Rajupet posted a dominating 8-1 victory over Ben Turchin and Charlie Marks, avenging an 8-6 setback from April 6.  Casey Cempre, the reigning NCAC Player of the Week, and Graham Gettel teamed up for an 8-3 victory at second doubles, while Jeffrey LoDuca and Jackson O'Gorman-Bean handed Soren Zeliger and Brandon McKenna an 8-1 loss at third doubles.

LoDuca and O'Gorman-Bean also provided the Big Red with the decisive wins in singles play at the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.  LoDuca shut out Eliot Heaton (6-0, 6-0), while O'Gorman-Bean's 6-0, 6-1 win over McKenna ended the match.

With their win in the quarterfinals, Denison advances to the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament on Saturday at 3 p.m.  The Big Red will now take on second-seeded DePauw, who secured a spot in the semifinals with a 5-1 victory over seventh-seeded Wabash.
