Big Red handles Yeomen netters

After a two-week layoff from completion, the Denison men's tennis team responded with a 7-2 victory over Oberlin College on Saturday on their home court in Granville.

In singles play, Denison logged victories in flights two through six to secure the team victory.  At second singles, Grant Veltman defeated Oberlin's Charlie Marks, 6-4, 6-1.  At No. 3, Andrew Marczak handled Ben Turnchin, 6-4, 6-0 and in the fourth flight, Shankar Rajupet held off Soren Zeliger, 6-3, 6-3.

At five and six singles, Graham Gettel and Jeffrey LoDuca posted straight-set wins.

Denison entered singles play with a 2-1 lead thanks to doubles wins by Casey Cempre and Marczak at No. 2 and Jackson O'Gorman-Bean and LoDuca at No. 3.

DU improves to 7-4 overall while Oberlin drops to 8-5.  The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday (April 10) when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for a clash with North Coast Athletic Conference rival, Kenyon College.
