The Big Red men's tennis team snapped a three-game skid on Wednesday with an 8-1 victory over Rhodes College at the Port Royal Racquet Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

Junior Juan Guerra and sophomore Grant Veltman picked up their fourth-straight win at the top singles flight and fifth victory overall.  The duo knocked off Matt Plumley and Eliot Blatt, 8-3.  The No. 2 doubles team of Casey Cempre and Andrew Marczak improved to 10-4 following an 8-6 decision over Colin Perry and Greyson Brilliant.  Sophomore Jeffrey LoDuca and Shankar Rajupet completed the doubles sweep with a dominating 8-2 win over Rob Steinwedell and Sanders Phelps.

In addition to winning all three doubles flights, Denison also posted victories in five of the six singles matches.  Guerra and Veltman each posted 6-3, 6-2 victories at first and third singles, respectively, while Marczak won No. 4 singles after Steinwedell retired with an injury.

DU's final singles wins were three-set decisions at the second and sixth flights.   Cempre shut out Perry in the opening set before dropping a 6-2 decision in the second.  In the final set, Cempre edged out a 12-10 victory.  After dropping the opening set 6-2 at No. 6 singles, Rajupet rattled off wins in the next two (6-2, 10-6) to secure his 10th singles win of the season.

The Big Red improves to 3-3 on the year, while the Lynx fall to 1-4.  Denison returns to the court on Thursday when they take on Bridgewater at 11:30 a.m.
