Graham Gettel notched a straight-set win at No. 5 singles vs. Earlham.

The Earlham Quakers picked up a 5-4 decision over Denison on Wednesday at the Mitchell Center Indoor courts in Granville, Ohio.

With the scored tied at 4-4, the match came down to the sixth singles flight between DU's Jackson O'Gorman-Bean and Earlham's Brad Maisey.  Maisey picked up the first set via 6-4 score before O'Gorman-Bean tied the things up with a 6-3 victory in the second set.  In the third-and-final set, both athletes battled to a 6-6 tie through 12 games.  Maisey came out ahead in the tiebreaker to pull out a 7-6 decision, winning the match for the Quakers.

Denison held a 2-1 advantage at the conclusion of doubles play.  Junior Juan Guerra and sophomore Grant Veltman doubled up 13th-ranked Anton Bartashevich and Jack Ventura-Cress at the first flight.  At No. 2 doubles, Casey Cempre and Andrew Marczak knocked off Kyle Richter and Phillip Locklear, 8-3.  Earlham's victory came at the third flight when Maisey and Andrey Gavrilov defeated Jeffrey LoDuca and O'Gorman-Bean.

In singles play, the Big Red picked up straight-set victories at the third and fifth flights.  Cempre posted a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Richter, while sophomore Graham Gettel edged out Gavrilov 6-4, 7-6.

Denison falls to 2-1 on the year, while the Quakers improve to 3-0.  The Big Red returns to the court on Feb. 24 when they travel to the University of Chicago for a 9 a.m. match.
