Men's swimming & diving zooms out of the gate

Swimmers at starting blocks

GRANVILLE, Ohio--  The Denison men's swimming & diving team enters Thanksgiving break riding high after a successful start to the 2015-16 campaign.  Denison is ranked No. 1 in the most recent College Swimming Coaches Association of America Division III Top-25 poll after dual meet victories over Division I Xavier and North Coast Athletic Conference rival, Kenyon College.  The Big Red also placed first at the Kenyon-Denison Swimming & Diving Relays to kick off the season on Oct. 15.

Junior Stuart Hohm posted a NCAA 'B' cut in the 200 freestyle against Kenyon with a time of 1:40.12.  That is the second-fastest time posted by a Division III swimmer this season.  Hohm also ranks sixth nationally in the 500 freestyle in 4:35.73.

First-year Bebe Wang has also made a name for himself after impressive showings against Ohio State, Kenyon and Xavier.  Wang ranks in the top-seven in the 400 IM, 200 IM and the 200 backstroke.  On Nov. 8 he was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week after a victory in the 200 IM against the Buckeyes and two wins versus Xavier.

Junior Kenny Fox has the second-best time in the nation in the 100 fly in 50.10.  Fox has also teamed with Hohm, Max Howes and Walt Dauksher for the best time in D-III in the 400 free relay in 3:04.21.

In diving, senior Brian Allen logged a 'B' cut with a six-dive score of 290.93 in 1-meter dive.  Allen is a four-time All-American who is coming off a pair of top-five national finishes at the 2016 NCAA Championship.

Up next for Denison is the Miami Invitational on Dec. 1-3 in Oxford, Ohio.  The Big Red has won the three-day Miami Invitational for three consecutive seasons.
