Big Red flies past Malone
The Denison men's swimming & diving team wrapped up its three-meet homestand with a 166-97 victory over Malone on Saturday afternoon inside the Trumbull Aquatic Center.
The Big Red has four multiple winners led by senior Sean Chabot who won three events. Chabot, Damon Rosenburg, Andrew Rich and Ryan Fleming won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.06. The senior also swept the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events with times of 52.39 and 1:56.18, respectively.
Other multiple winner included Rosenburg, Fleming and senior Carlos Maciel. In addition to their victory in the 200 medley relay, Rosenburg and Fleming picked up wins in the 100 breast and 50 free events, respectively. Rosenburg clocked in with a time of 57.59, while Fleming touched the wall at 21.23.
Maciel's two victories came in the 100 and 200 freestyle races. The senior posted a time of 1:44.02 in the 200, and returned to finish the 100 free in 47.31.
In the diving tank, Denison competed against itself as the Pioneers didn't bring any divers with them to Granville. Junior Connor Dorff won the three-meter event with a six-dive score of 310.13. On the one-meter board, sophomore Ben Lewis captured the title with 296.33, edging Dorff by three tenths of a point.
Denison returns to action on Friday when they travel to Ohio State for a quad with the Buckeyes, Virginia Tech and Cleveland State. Events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
