SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--  The Denison offense came alive to the tune of five goals as the Big Red rolled to a 5-0 shutout win over Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon at Edwards-Maurer Field.  With the win, Denison improves to 5-6-1 overall and moves to 2-1-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference.

DU got things going in the 16th minute when first-year Max Gottesfeld provided the eventual game-winner with a goal after a corner kick was served into play by Max Haupt.

Two minutes later Denison was threatening once again.  This time the Tigers were whistled for a foul in the box and a penalty kick was awarded to the Big Red.  Senior co-captain Jordan Williams converted the PK, his second of the season.  In his career, Williams is a perfect 6-for-6 in penalty kick attempts.

DU posted its third goal of the contest in the 24th minute when Gottesfeld connected with Luis Zamora for his third goal of the season.

Seven minutes into the second half, Williams scored off a corner kick by Haupt, lifting his squad to a 4-0 lead.  In the 60th minute, Denison scoring was rounded out by Zamora who netted the unassisted goal.

Denison outshot Wittenberg 25-6.  Five of the Tigers' six shots were on-goal.  DU starting goalkeeper, Dylan Brown, posted two saves in 71 minutes.  Colin Cramer posted three saves in 19 minutes between the pipes.  Gottesfeld led the offense with five shots.  Williams followed with four.

The Big Red travels to Crawfordsville, Indiana on Tuesday, Oct. 17 for a 4 p.m. match with Wabash College.  They return to Granville next Saturday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m.
