Men's Soccer falls to #20 Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Denison men's soccer traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon and fell to No. 20 Carnegie Mellon University by a score of 5-0.

Despite a three save performance from senior goalkeeper Jack Thomas, the Tartans scored twice in the first 10 minutes of action and senior Jimmy Jameson recorded a three-goal performance.

Jameson led the game off with an unassisted goal in the sixth minute of play and was followed by junior Zack Masciopinto in the 10th minute to give the Tartans a 2-0 advantage. Jameson scored two more before the intermission to finalize his hat trick and take a 4-0 lead.

Masciopinto extended the Tartan lead in the second half on his second goal of the day.

Thomas got the start in goal for Denison and played the first half.  He finished with three saves while seeing seven shots on goal.  Colin Cramer played the second half and did not record a save while facing one shot on goal.

The Big Red will return home on Tuesday, Sept. 5 when Wilmington College comes to Barclay-Thomsen Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
