Denison head men's lacrosse coach Mike Caravana was a featured speaker at last week's Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Convention in Baltimore, Maryland. Caravana presented on the topic of "Small things in stickwork that make a difference". This is the fourth time Caravana has been a featured speaker at the IMLCA Convention. He has also been a keynote speaker at the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's annual convention.
Caravana is entering his 25th season at Denison and is one of the winningest active coaches in collegiate lacrosse. In 24 seasons, he boasts a career record of 274-89 (.755). He was named Division III Coach of the Year in 1994 and is a five-time North Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. In 2017, Caravana guided the Big Red to the program's third NCAA Final Four appearance. Since 2012, the Big Red has gone 94-13 while remaining ranked in the USILA Top-20 throughout. DU is coming off of back-to-back 18-2 campaigns.
Denison's 2018 season will begin on February 18 when they travel to Lexington, Virginia to face Washington and Lee. Denison's 2018 schedule could be their most challenging in program history. It features five games against teams that were nationally ranked in 2017 (Washington and Lee, Stevenson, Roanoke, Amherst and Dickinson). All five of those contests will occur before March 17.
