Walsh earns NCAC POW honors

Denison senior Zach Walsh was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after helping the Big Red capture their 13th conference title.

Walsh scored three goals and added one assist in DU's 11-6 victory over Kenyon on Saturday that clinched the 2012 NCAC Men's Lacrosse Championship.  Trailing 6-5 in the third quarter, Walsh tied the game with an extra-man goal and scored the go-ahead goal, following a thunderous check from Chapin Speidel.

With the win, Denison also won the first-ever Thomsen-Heiser Trophy game, commemorating legendary head coaches Ferris "Tommy" Thomsen Jr. of Denison and Bill Heiser of Kenyon.

Walsh and the Big Red return to action on Tuesday when they host Otterbein University at 7:30 p.m.
