Couture honored nationally

Denison senior attack Cory Couture was named the Nike Division III Player of the Week after matching a school record with 12 points in the Big Red's 21-1 victory over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon.

Couture scored a career-high seven goals and added five assists in helping the No. 15 Big Red to a season-opening win over the Lions.  Couture's performance tied the school record set by Victor Maddux in 1997.

The Nike Division III Lacrosse Player of the Week is awarded through Inside Lacrosse.  Couture is the first national honoree of the 2012 season.
