CLAYTON, Ind. – Denison men's golf currently sits in seventh place out of 17 teams after round one of the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic at Deer Creek Golf Club. With a team score of 304 after day one, the Big Red are only eight strokes back of tournament leading Kenyon College, who has posted a first-round score of 296. DePauw University and the College of Wooster are tied in fifth place with a team score of 303, only one stroke ahead of Denison.
The Big Red was paced on Saturday by freshman Charlie Winkler who is currently tied for 18th overall with a score of 75 in his first round. Christian Early and Nick Brodbeck both recorded 76's, good for a current tie in 25th place.
The Big Red will return to the links at Deer Creek on Sunday, Sept. 24 for the final round of the Dan Quayle Collegiate Classic.
