APOLLO, Pa.-- Denison men's golf is off to a strong start at the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shootout. After round one of two, they sit in third place after posting a team total of 296. Carnegie Mellon leads at 284 and Allegheny is second at 287. Washington & Jefferson is one shot behind DU at 297 while Point Park sits in fifth at 305.
The Big Red was paced on Saturday by Connor Holleran and Nick Brodbeck who fired 2-over par 72's to lead the way. Brodbeck got off to a strong start with birdies on No. 1 and No. 3 which were both par-4's. He added 10 pars on his way to his 72.
Holleran's round was highlighted by three birdies that came on the par 3 12th, the par 4 10th and the par 4 third hole. He also added 10 pars to finish at 72.
DU will return to the Links at Spring Church on Sunday for the final round of the Carnegie Mellon Fall Shoot Out.
