The Big Red men's golf team closed out the half of the 2017 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series in fifth place after firing a two-day total of 618 strokes. At the midway point, the Big Red sits 10 strokes out of second place. Wittenberg leads the nine-team field with 577 shots.

Senior Jonathan Taylor wrapped up play at the Country Club of Meadville in a tie for eighth place (151) thanks in large part to a one-over par, 73, on Sunday. For the second-straight day, Christian Early and Nick Brodbeck shot matching scores. The tandem each fired a round of 77 which put them in a tie for 16th place with 155 shots. Senior Guille Henegar rounded out the scoring with an 80 on day two. That moves his tournament total to 157 which puts him in a tie for 22nd.

Three different players fired a one-under par, 71 on Sunday afternoon. Wittenberg's Garrett Brickley garnered medalist honors with a two-day total of 142. Ohio Wesleyan's Adam Armstrong and Wabash's Kyle Warbington also fired second-round scores of 71.

Allegheny and DePauw are currently tied for second with 608 shots each, while Kenyon is fourth with 616 strokes. Denison, Ohio Wesleyan (621), Wooster (629), Wabash (630) and Hiram (723) round out the team standings after the first event of the series.

The final two rounds of the NCAC Championship Series will be played next weekend (April 29-30) at Royal American Links in Galena, Ohio.
