MEADVILLE, Pa.--  The Denison men's golf team opened the 2017 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series with a team total of 311.  They are in a three-way tie for fifth place with Wooster and Kenyon.  They trail third-place DePauw and Ohio Wesleyan by seven strokes and are only eight strokes behind second place Allegheny.  Wittenberg leads the field after a four-under-par 284.

Denison's Guille Henegar led the team with a 5-over par round of 77.  He finished with three birdies on the day.

Nick Brodbeck, Christian Early and Jonathan Taylor followed with 6-over rounds of 78. Brodbeck piled up 13 pars in his round.  Taylor and Early started strong with a 1-over 36 on their first nine. Both ran into some trouble on their second nine (holes 1-9) where they were 5-over.   Connor Holleran shot 87 as Denison's No. 5 man.

Wittenberg's Sam Stilwell led the field with a 4-under par, 68.  The Big Red returns to Meadville Country Club for Round two of the NCAC Championship Series.
