Jimmy Slovitt fired a 74 and Aaron Klimchuk followed with a 75 as the Big Red ended round one of the North Coast Athletic Conference Invitational in a tie for fifth-place at 313. The tournament, which is the second and final event of this year's NCAC Championship Series will conclude on Sunday at Oakhaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.
Through 54 holes, Denison sits in seventh place in the conference series standings with 943 total strokes. They trail sixth-place Kenyon by four strokes and fifth-place DePauw by nine strokes with 18 holes left to play on Sunday.
Slovitt's 74 today lands him in sixth-place in the individual series standings at 226 (75, 77, 74). Klimchuk is tied for 15th individually after his series-best round of 75 today. Denison's scores were rounded out today by Dylan Francis (81) and Alex Geanakos (83).
Saturday's low round was a 68 carded by Wooster's John Angelo. That has helped the Fighting Scots take a three-stroke lead into Sunday's final round of the Invitational. It also moved them into fourth-place in the series standings.
