Denison finished fourth on the opening day of the Rosencrans-Maurer Invitational after firing a 300 through 18 holes on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Jimmy Slovitt co-leads the 93-man field with a three-under par, 69. Slovitt fired a 34 on the front nine holes, and followed that up with a 35 on the back. Junior Aaron Klimchuk and sophomore Dylan Francis both carded 76s to finish in a tie for 24th place.
Rounding out the first-round scoring was senior Steven Geldart, who turned in a 79. Geldart's score landed him in a tie for 52nd place.
Ohio Wesleyan leads the team standings with 297 strokes, while Allegheny (298), Otterbein (299), Denison, Wittenberg (301) and DePauw (301) round out the top five. Slovitt co-leads the field with Allegheny's Oliver White (35-34).
The final round of the Rosencrans-Maurer Invitational will take place on Sunday at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.
