CLEVELAND— Denison senior guard David Meurer was named the North Coast Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week after leading the 10th ranked Big Red to a pair of wins over Hiram and Kenyon.
Meurer led the team in scoring in both contests, finishing with a season-high 31 against Kenyon and 17 against Hiram. Against Kenyon, Meurer shot 12-for-18 from the field and was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. In the victory over Hiram, Meurer also added six assists and four steals in 29 minutes.
He recently moved into 12th place on Denison's career scoring list with 1,305 points. Meurer and the Big Red are in the midst of an eight-game winning streak. At 16-1, they are off to their best start in program history which spans 115 seasons.
Denison will host Oberlin College on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. from Livingston Gymnasium.
