Four players scored in double figures for Denison as the Big Red shot 56 percent from the field while knocking down 11 3-pointers. With the game tied 40-40 at the half, Denison opened the second half on a 12-2 run powered by a pair of treys by Claude Chandonnet and three-point plays by Speelman and Meurer.
With just over 12 minutes to play, Matt Gerics stole the ball from W&J's Sean Stinelli and hit Meurer on the fast break, giving DU their biggest lead of the game at 16.
With Denison leading by 15 with 4:11 to play, the Presidents connected on three consecutive 3-pointers to make it a six-point game with three minutes to play. The Big Red put the game away at the free throw line as they hit 6-of-8 at the stripe to clinch the win.
Meurer was 7-of-13 and 8-of-10 at the free throw line for 23 points. He also added eight assists and three steals in 31 minutes. Speelman was 6-of-15 and 7-for-7 at the charity stripe for 21 points. He led all players with eight rebounds in 28 minutes. Andrew Castagnetti came off the bench to score 15 points off a 5-for-6 performance from beyond the arc. In his first career start, Chandonnet scored 11 points in 24 minutes.
Washington & Jefferson was led in scoring by Brian Graytok with 23. Christian Rohaus tallied 17 off the bench.
Denison is back in action on Saturday, November 19 when they travel to Ohio Northern for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
