Granbury, Texas – Seniors Charlie Mueller and Alex Raynor will represent the Denison football program at the 20th annual Tazón De Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) in Tijuana, Mexico on Saturday, Dec. 16.
Mueller and Raynor will join 38 other NCAA Division III football players on Team Stars & Stripes as they will face the CONADEIP All-Stars, a team consisting of football players from across Mexico's private universities, at CETYS University's Margarita Aztiazarán de Fimbres Stadium.
Following a first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection, Raynor will compete in Mexico after a senior campaign where he tied for second on the team with 69 total tackles and logged a team-high 10 pass breakups. The Rye, N.Y. native finished his career in Granville with 202 tackles.
Mueller, who was co-captain of the Big Red in his senior season, earned a spot on the team following a year where he recorded 20 catches for 308 yards and three touchdowns. He totaled a season-high seven receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown in a win at Allegheny College on Sept. 16. The Kansas City, Mo. native also led the team with 21 kickoff returns for 434 yards.
Denison finished the season with a record of 7-3 overall, 6-3 in conference play.
