NEW CONCORD, Ohio--  No. 25 Denison defeated Muskingum, 8-2 on Thursday afternoon.  With the win, Denison improves to 20-7 while the Muskies drop to 14-17.

The Big Red got a strong pitching performance as six pitchers combined to scatter five hits while not allowing an earned run.  Mikey Rivera got the start and pitched the first two innings.  He gave up one hit while striking out two.  John Troll followed with two perfect innings and was given the victory.  The game was closed out by Danny Brackman (2.0 IP), Sean Bonner (1.0 IP), Daniel Kurtzer (0.2 IP) and Andrew Bruss (1.1 IP).

The Big Red offense got to Muskingum starter Bryce Husted early, scoring four runs in the first inning thanks to three hit batters with the bases loaded and a sacrifice fly by Jake Ryder.

In the second, Denison took a 5-0 thanks to a successful double steal by Phil Papaioannou and Tanner Johnson resulted in Johnson taking home.

Jack Blanchard plated DU's sixth run in the third inning with a single to center that scored Nick Pettigrew.  Denison's eighth and ninth runs were plated by Tanner Johnson and Grady Paine on RBI singles.

Johnson was 2-for-3 with a RBI and three runs scored.  Blanchard was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Denison returns to Big Red Field this weekend when they host Wittenberg University in a four-game North Coast Athletic Conference West Division series.  That kicks off on Saturday (April 22) at 12 p.m.
