Lynsey Whisner returns for her seventh season as the head volleyball coach at Denison in 2013.
Whisner and the Big Red are coming off a successful 2012 campaign which saw them go 21-10 and finish fourth in the NCAC with a 5-3 record. Whisner was named the NCAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career. Last year's 21-win season built off a solid 2011 season which saw them go 7-9 in conference play.
The Big Red enjoyed a successful season in conference play in 2010 as Whisner guided the Big Red to a fourth-place finish in the NCAC standings which was highligted by a return to the NCAC Tournament. Denison won seven of eight contests at one point in the 2010 season and were led by All-NCAC first-team selection, Lauren Strowder.
After spending six years as an assistant coach, Whisner took over the reins from 18-year head coach Sara Lee in 2007.
She served as the assistant volleyball and assistant softball coach at Denison since the 2001-02 season. From 2001 through 2009 Whisner also served as the assistant softball coach. During that eight-year span the Denison softball team averaged 24 victories a season and captured three NCAC regular season championships, three NCAC Tournament titles and three NCAA Division III Championship Tournament berths.
Whisner and her husband reside in nearby Hanover, Ohio. She earned her master's in business administration from Otterbein College in 2008 and holds a bachelor's degree in business management with a concentration in human resources from Capital University in 1999. A former catcher for the Crusaders, Whisner helped the team to 45 victories over her final two seasons.
