Seven Denison swimmers were named to the 2016-17 CollegeSwimming.com Division III Preseason All-American teams. Combined, they have earned 51 All-American certificates and all six returning swimmers were national team members in 2016.
Costley, a senior, is a 12-time All-American. She is a preseason All-American in the 500 freestyle and 1650 free. At last year's national championship meet, Costley placed third in the 500 free and eighth in the 1650.
Garza was named in the 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley. The junior posted top-10 finishes in both events at the 2016 national championship. She is a four-time All-American.
A two-time national champion, Kane was named in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly. Last season, she was an All-American in all three events. For her career, the senior has posted 19 All-America finishes.
Zaravella is a first-year from Victor, N.Y. She was named for her performance in the 400 IM.
Last year, as a freshman, Fox represented the Big Red at the Divison III Championships. He was named in the 100 butterfly.
Lindell, a four-time national champion, was named a preseason All-American in the 200 backstroke, 200 IM and 400 IM. Lindell is the reigning national champion in all three events and was the NCAA Division III Swimmer of the Year a season ago.
Wesseling was named in the 100 backstroke. He won the NCAC Championship in the event and finished sixth at the 2016 Division III Championships. The junior is a four-time All-American.
CollegeSwimming.com selects Preseason All-Americans based on times, along with input from coaches and sports information directors. In total, 121 swimmers were selected.
Denison swimming and diving opens the season on Saturday, Oct. 15, with the Kenyon Relays and Denison Diving Relays.
